The rules that govern use of Nathanael, purchases, myNathanael accounts,
digital books and Nathanael+ memberships.
Effective 14 August 2026Republic of South AfricaConsumer + Platform Terms
Plain-language principle:
pay only for what is clearly presented, receive what was agreed, use purchased digital
books personally, and do not misuse the platform. Nathanael may protect itself against
fraud, infringement and abuse, but these Terms do not remove rights that South African law
does not allow a supplier to exclude.

02 · ACCEPTANCE
When these Terms apply.
These Terms apply when you use the Nathanael website, create a myNathanael account,
buy a product, obtain digital access, subscribe to Nathanael+, submit a publishing
request, or otherwise enter a transaction through the platform.
Before placing an order you must have a reasonable opportunity to review the order,
correct mistakes and decide whether to proceed. By finally placing an order or starting
a subscription, you confirm that the information supplied is materially accurate and
that you intend to enter the transaction shown.
If you do not agree with these Terms, do not place an order, start a paid membership or
use restricted account functions.
03 · myNATHANAEL
Your account.
myNathanael is the free customer account used to manage purchases, orders, purchased
eBook access, wishlist information, reading progress and any Nathanael+ membership
attached to the account.
You must provide materially accurate account information, keep login credentials
confidential and avoid allowing another person to use your account in a way that
defeats licence, payment or subscription restrictions.
Nathanael may temporarily restrict an account where reasonably necessary to investigate
fraud, unauthorised access, chargeback abuse, unlawful copying, security threats or a
material breach of these Terms. A restriction will not be used to confiscate a lawful
consumer right or avoid an obligation owed on an accepted transaction.
04 · ORDERS
Formation and availability.
A cart does not reserve stock. Submitting checkout creates an order request. An order
is treated as accepted when Nathanael has accepted the transaction through its order
process and, where payment is required first, verified the payment or otherwise
confirmed the order for fulfilment.
If a product becomes unavailable before an order is accepted, or if Nathanael cannot
perform an accepted electronic order within the applicable legal or specifically agreed
period, the customer will receive the remedies required by law.
Nathanael may reject or cancel an order before acceptance where there is a genuine stock
failure, unlawful transaction, suspected fraud, obvious system duplication or a clear
pricing/input error. If valid payment has already been received for an order Nathanael
does not accept, the affected amount will be refunded.
05 · PRICE & PAYMENT
What the customer pays.
The price shown at the point of checkout, together with any delivery charge, tax or
other expressly disclosed amount, is the transaction price. Nathanael will not add an
undisclosed charge after checkout.
Payments may be processed by an independent payment provider. Nathanael relies on
verified server-side payment confirmation before treating a payment as successful for
fulfilment or subscription activation.
A customer must not initiate a dishonest chargeback, payment reversal or fraud claim.
This does not prevent a customer from exercising a genuine statutory, contractual or
banking dispute right.
06 · DELIVERY & RETURNS
Physical fulfilment.
Physical delivery, courier handling, failed delivery, returns, defective goods and
refunds are governed by the
Delivery & Returns Policy,
which forms part of these Terms.
A courier appointed by Nathanael is a service provider used for transport and
fulfilment. Any attempt to allocate operational responsibility to a courier does not
exclude rights that the customer is entitled to enforce against Nathanael under
applicable law.
07 · PURCHASED eBOOKS
Enduring access, not copyright transfer.
When you purchase an eBook, Nathanael grants or facilitates an enduring,
non-exclusive, personal, non-transferable licence to access and read that edition
through the supported myNathanael environment, subject to these Terms.
Purchase gives enduring customer access.
It does not transfer the author’s or publisher’s copyright, publishing rights or other
intellectual property to the customer.
Unless the rights holder expressly authorises otherwise, you may not resell,
redistribute, upload, publicly post, mass-copy, share account access for the purpose
of supplying the eBook to others, remove protection measures, scrape the digital file,
or use automated means to reproduce substantial portions of a protected edition.
Normal personal reading, reasonable device display and lawful quotation or use allowed
by copyright law are not prohibited by this clause.
08 · NATHANAEL+
Recurring membership access.
Nathanael+ is an optional paid membership attached to a myNathanael account.
It is separate from purchased eBook ownership. Membership gives access only while the
subscription is active and according to the access level and allowance of the selected
plan.
The active plan record controls the price, billing interval, access level and monthly
book allowance displayed through Nathanael. Bronze, Silver and Gold may provide
different book limits, resource levels and benefits.
Recurring billing
Unless the checkout expressly states otherwise, Nathanael+ is billed on a recurring
monthly basis. The initial membership charge is processed when the customer subscribes
and subsequent charges recur for later membership periods until cancellation takes
effect.
Monthly reading allowance
Where a plan has a monthly book limit, the allowance applies to distinct Nathanael+
books selected in the relevant membership period. Re-opening the same selected title
does not consume a second slot. Unused book selections do not roll over unless
Nathanael expressly states otherwise.
A title may require a minimum subscription level. A lower plan does not acquire access
merely because the title is visible in the wider Nathanael+ catalogue.
Cancellation
A member may request cancellation at any time through the membership-management
channel made available by Nathanael or by written request to
sales@nathanael.co.za. Cancellation stops future renewal once
processed and does not convert subscription books into owned eBooks.
If Nathanael receives a valid cancellation request before the next renewal has been
processed, Nathanael will not knowingly impose another renewal charge. If a renewal is
charged solely because of an unreasonable processing delay by Nathanael after a valid,
timely cancellation request, Nathanael will correct that charge.
Unless law requires otherwise, cancellation ordinarily leaves access active until the
end of the membership period already paid for and does not create a pro-rata refund for
an otherwise properly supplied period.
Plan or price changes
Nathanael may change future plan prices or benefits prospectively. A material change
will not be applied retrospectively to a completed paid period. Where reasonably
required, notice will be given before a future renewal so that the member can decide
whether to continue.
09 · PUBLISHING SERVICES
Publishing enquiries and quotations.
A publishing enquiry is not a publishing contract and does not require Nathanael to
accept a manuscript or project. A quotation is an estimate or offer based on the scope
stated in that quotation and becomes binding only according to its acceptance terms.
Editing, design, printing, publishing, distribution, author royalties, platform
listing and other publishing services may be governed by a separate written quotation
or author/publishing agreement. Where that agreement conflicts with these general
website Terms on a project-specific commercial matter, the signed or accepted
project-specific agreement governs that matter.
Uploading a manuscript for quotation does not transfer copyright to Nathanael.
10 · BOOKS & AUTHORS
Third-party authors and published views.
Nathanael may sell or provide access to works written by independent authors and
published under different rights arrangements. The views, testimonies, interpretations
and opinions expressed in a book ordinarily belong to the author or identified rights
holder and do not automatically constitute a representation by Envision Nathanael.
Product pages are intended to describe titles accurately. If a supplied product
materially differs from its description, the customer retains the rights available
under applicable law and the Delivery & Returns Policy.
Religious, leadership, educational or inspirational content is not a substitute for
professional medical, legal, financial or other regulated advice where such advice is
required for an individual situation.
11 · INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The platform and its content.
The Nathanael name, platform design, software, original site text, graphics,
compilations and other protected material belong to Envision Nathanael or the
applicable licensor. Book copyrights remain with the relevant author, publisher or
rights holder as indicated for the work.
Nothing on the website grants a right to reproduce, commercially exploit or create
unauthorised derivative products from protected content merely because the content can
be viewed online.
12 · ACCEPTABLE USE
Do not misuse the service.
You may not use Nathanael to commit fraud, interfere with security, probe restricted
systems without authority, distribute malware, automate abusive requests, scrape
protected digital editions, impersonate another person, bypass subscription controls,
infringe intellectual property or use stolen payment credentials.
Nathanael may block, rate-limit, investigate or suspend activity reasonably believed to
create a security, fraud, legal or infringement risk. Serious unlawful conduct may be
referred to the appropriate service provider or authority.
13 · LIABILITY
Reasonable allocation of risk.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, remedies or consumer rights that
may not lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability arising where legislation
expressly prevents such exclusion.
Subject to that rule, Nathanael is not responsible for loss caused solely by a
customer’s misuse, unlawful conduct, disclosure of credentials, unsupported
modification of files or devices, or an event entirely outside Nathanael’s reasonable
control where Nathanael has acted with the standard required by law.
Where liability may lawfully be limited, Nathanael is responsible for proven direct
loss that is reasonably attributable to its breach or wrongful conduct, but not for
remote, speculative or unrelated loss that was not reasonably foreseeable from the
transaction concerned.
14 · CHANGES
Changes to these Terms.
Nathanael may revise these Terms to reflect changes in law, services, security or
operating practice. The revised date will be displayed on this page.
A revision does not rewrite an already completed purchase retrospectively. Material
changes affecting an ongoing paid membership will be applied prospectively and, where
reasonably necessary, communicated before the next renewal.
15 · COMPLAINTS & GOVERNING LAW
Resolve the issue at the right level.
Contact Nathanael first at sales@nathanael.co.za with the order,
account or transaction reference and a concise explanation of the complaint.
Nathanael will have a reasonable opportunity to investigate and respond.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Nothing in the
choice of law or forum prevents a consumer from using a statutory complaint,
ombud, regulator, tribunal or court process that applicable law makes available.
Depending on the subject matter and jurisdiction, this may include consumer-protection
bodies or the Information Regulator for personal-information complaints.
